The game features support for virtual realityoffering a set of exclusive missions developed for the PlayStation VR headset, as well as several downloadable content packs offering new missions.
Like the rest of the Ace Combat series, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown forgoes a realistic flight model in favor of faster, arcade-like gameplay to increase its accessibility to newer players. Players complete missions by destroying various air and surface targets. A mission briefing details the player's expected route of attack and the enemy opposition in a 3D map display. The player can also choose Novice or Expert control settings; the latter enables the player to execute realistic aircraft maneuvers such as rolls and high-g turns.
Wingmen accompany the player through the mission, providing exposition and potentially shooting down enemy planes for the player. The game features 28 different aircraft, with an additional three as downloadable content and the F-4E Phantom II offered as a pre-order bonus. As with previous entries in the series, most of the aircraft are licensed from the real-world, although a set of fictional superplanes are also included.
Several aircraft in the game make their series debut such as various members of the Su family as well as upgraded versions of older aircraft like the Gripen E and AC Thunderbolt II. Over the course of the single-player campaign, the player earns an in-game currency, known as "MRP," to purchase additional aircraft and equipment through a tech tree. Each aircraft is equipped with standard missiles for both air-to-air and air-to-ground warfare, as well as another special weapon.
Special weapons are used to boost an aircraft's ability to carry out air-to-air or air-to-ground attacks. Equipment purchased may also be used to boost the performance of the aircraft beyond its base performance, such as improved engine parts or airframe parts to enhance its speed and survivability respectively. Only eight upgrades may be applied at any time, and certain upgrades are only usable in single-player modes. Aircraft also can have skins applied to them, of which most have to be unlocked by completing certain actions in-game.
At times, players may choose to engage in additional minigames, such as mid-air refueling or landing on an aircraft carrier. These minigames can be skipped, but confer additional points to players. The game takes place in Strangereal the same fictional setting shared by other games in the series. Following the events of Ace Combat 04 and Ace Combat 5the Osean Federation Osea brokered peace between the military power of the Kingdom of Erusea and the rest of the Usean continent.
The ISEV is protected by two massive Osean airborne aircraft carrier dronesknown as Arsenal Birds, each carrying a large number of combat drones. This resentment eventually leads to the war depicted in-game, colloquially referred to as the "Lighthouse War" after the ISEV's nickname. The players control the game's silent protagonistan Osean fighter pilot with the callsign "Trigger".
The game's frame story is told through pre-rendered cutscenes played between missions, primarily from the point of view of three characters: Avril Mead, an Osean civilian aircraft mechanic who was caught in the crossfire and forced to work in an Osean penal military unitPrincess Rosa Cosette D'Elise, a member of the Erusean royal family who believes the war will end Osean interference on the continent, and Doctor Schroeder, a Belkan scientist who developed combat drone technology for Erusea.
Other major characters include Erusean ace pilot Mihaly A. Shilage, and his granddaughters, Ionela and Alma Shilage. Rising tensions between Osea and Erusea culminate when Erusea launches a surprise attack on Osea with a massive number of combat drones. Avril Mead, who was flying a refurbished FC Starfighter when the war began, is shot down in the crossfire and arrested by Osea for breaching wartime aviation laws.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown/DLC
Avril is transferred to the Osean th Air Base as a mechanic, where a penal fighter squadron known as the Spare Squadron is maintained. During the mission, a missile strikes Harling's escaping aircraft, killing him. Osean pilot Trigger is accused of firing the missile, found guilty by court-martialand transferred to Spare Squadron. Considered to be expendable by the Osean military, Spare Squadron is sent on several dangerous missions considered too risky for regular pilots.Ace Combat 7 has an immersive story mode.

Copyright: Nerds and Scoundrels. The player must destroy a large Erusean naval force at Anchorhead to prevent them from defending Farbanti and to prevent the Alicorn from joining with them.
The first part of the mission is a minute Annihilation battle, uniquely featuring three Return Lines at the north, east, and south ends of the operation area. The northern part of the map, Anchor Bay, has many ships in the harbor and an Aegis Ashore.
The southern part of the map, Dakiouk Bay, has only a few ships but houses AHD helicopters, multiple containers which spawn MQsas well as another Aegis Ashore. The player must reach the following score requirements to complete this stage:. After about three minutes, Tucker Team will begin to inform the player of enemy MV helicopters leaving the battle area with high-ranking Erusean officials on board. They award high amounts of points points per helicopterso the player should attempt to shoot them down whenever they appear.
They are not mission-important, however, and can be safely ignored if necessary. They will spawn at set locations within Anchor Bay and Dakiouk Bay and will flee northwest and southwest respectively. After around six minutes elapse, a large fleet of several destroyersone cruiserone aegis vesseland one Battle cruiser enter the operation area from the east.
They are not mission important but destroying the fleet yields large amounts of points. While initially harmless, the Alicorn eventually fires railgun shells from outside the mission area toward the SLUAV; the railgun shells detonate in mid-air and will severely damage the player if they are too close to the SLUAVs, with the damage increasing with proximity to the drone. The SLUAVs' movement is also directly tied to the player's movement, and as such, staying level or in the same position after firing a missile should land the player a kill on the SLUAV.
The second part of the mission is a battle against Mimic Squadron. Both Rage and Scream use lock-breaking ECM similar to " Unexpected Visitor "; if the player locks on to one of them, the player's radar and HUD will short out after about one second of lock, breaking the lock temporarily.
In addition, both Rage and Scream will continuously fire stealth missiles that do not trigger a missile alert immediately, making them harder to detect and dodge. SLUAVs will also continue to spawn as in the first part of the mission, but their recurrence will only last for three minutes.
After three minutes, either one or both of the targets will aim for Count as he tries to lure them into attacking him. After that, they will switch between targeting the player and Count so the player should take the opportunity to shoot down whoever is chasing the latter.
Depending on which pilot the player shoots down first, the other will display unique behaviors. If Scream is shot down first, Rage becomes frenzied and fights the player far more aggressively, firing up to four missiles per volley, similar to Mobius One in The Gauntlet. If Rage is shot down first, Scream will become slightly less aggressive.
That being said, she also employs incredibly agile homing missiles similar to QAAMs that have an incredibly long flight time, to the point of "orbiting" the player's plane if it can't line up a hit. The mission is completed once the player shoots down both Mimic aircraft. Earning an S Rank on this mission requires earning a combined score and time bonus of 70, points or more. The maximum time bonus available is 8, for completing the mission in a total of 19 minutes or less.
This includes time spent retrying from the checkpoint.Following is the list of missions in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. Browniehaving taken damage, escapes the area with Gargoyle 1 while Mage assists the remaining Golem and Gargoyle pilots being chased by UAVs.
An unknown pilot enters the area and shoots down both Gargoyle 1 and Brownie. The Kestrel II is revealed to have been sunk afterwards. All of Sea Goblin is killed while trying to extract Harling and Colonel Johnsona military officer accompanying him. Gargoyle, under secret orders from the IUN, fires multiple missiles at the space elevator that destroy many MQs programmed to sacrifice themselves for its protection.
One missile breaks through and causes minimal damage to the elevator. Mother Goose One's cockpit is hit, killing Colonel Johnson.
Harling takes the controls and attempts to return to the space elevator. A second missile is fired from an unknown source and strikes the V, destroying it and killing Harling. The Liberty enters the airspace afterwards, forcing a retreat. Trigger is blamed for firing the missile and court-martialed. After successfully escorting them to an extraction chopperLong Caster detects an EASA liaison plane entering the airspace with four escort aircraft.
The transport comes under fire from a squadron of Erusean conservative fighters blaming EASA for perpetuating the conflict. After fending them off, however, the escorts suddenly target Strider and the liaison plane, and an unknown figure on board the plane reveals that the escorts are actually drones that have gained a will of their own after loss of contact with their human controllers following the satellite blackout.
Strider shoots down the escorts as well as a group of MQs that, unbeknownst to everyone including their controllershave launched on their own. In the chaos of the battle, an Osean AWACS mistakenly labels the general and his escort as impostor spies and directs an FC to shoot down the extraction chopper, killing everyone on board. After clearing out most of the island, the Scrap Queen contacts the LRSSG about a group of refugees and defectors being escorted by th Air Base members and surrounded by Erusean forces.
Rosa Cossette D'Elise, whose transport was shot down over the island, throws a smoke canister to mark their position, allowing the LRSSG to save them in the nick of time. In their bid to evacuate refugees, the th Air Base gets bogged down by falling drones and Tabloid sacrifices himself to save a little girl from being crushed by falling rubble, sharing his fate with some other refugees.
Shortly after the Justice' s destruction and the space elevator's recapture, Cossette skydives from the space elevator, just as a pair of ADFF Raven drones enter the airspace and wipe out most of the coalition forces, damage Count's F with a missile, and nearly kill Cossette in the explosion. Unfortunately, just as victory seems at hand, Rosa Cossette D'Elise warns the coalition forces of a second detached drone.

Trigger and Count chase it down through the undersea tunnel that leads to the space elevator's main chamber and destroy it along with the chamber's five data receivers just seconds away from the transfer. Count, whose engines were damaged by the last drone in a tunnel ambush, makes a belly landing at the chamber while Trigger ascends the elevator's windbreak to escape. The crew of the spaceship Pilgrim 1, led by former fighter pilot turned astronaut Kei Nagasereturn to Earth after their seven-year mission and thank Trigger and his allies for giving her ship a place to return to as they celebrate.
As Osean forces begin surrounding the AlicornErusean HQ orders the ship's captain, Matias Torresto scuttle the ship immediately to prevent capture. Unfortunately, Torres, who has been planning his escape from the start, rebels, claiming ownership of the vessel to himself and his crew and unleashing his ship's arsenal on the fleet, utterly obliterating it. Strider breaks off to intercept the payload and succeeds, angering Torres as his ship escapes into the open sea.
Upon mission success, Mimic Squadron shows up again and cripples Lanza 's F with a stealth missile, prompting a two-on-two dogfight between them and Strider. They refuse, however, prioritizing on shooting down Trigger so as to not displease their superiors' ordersmuch to Clemens' outrage as they inadvertently potentially exposed him.
The Alicorn is also revealed to have been using the raid as a smokescreen to resupply itself with tactical nuclear shells amidst the confusion created. Sign In Don't have an account? Start a Wiki.
